EDU 2015 - Education of Exceptional ChildCredit(s): 3 An introductory course designed to give an overview of information and issues related to the education of students in grades K-5 with exceptionalities. The course provides an overview of current strategies for meeting the needs of exceptional learners, a brief history of special education, and specific information regarding individual disabilities. Students will also explore the importance of advocacy for all students with exceptionalities. (Note: A Criminal Background Check, Membership in STEA, and a Saturday Training Seminar [3-hours] are required for participation in the Field Experience component of this course. Attendance at various out-of-class professional development events will also be required throughout the semester.)
Corequisite(s): ACT Math score of 19 or satisfactory placement scores or Learning Support Math
