Program description. Administrative Professional Technology offers a core curriculum that provides an academic/technical foundation for individuals preparing for positions in health careers using computer applications and administrative skills.
Students passing the Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) examination are granted 19 semester hours of credit at Pellissippi State for certain courses which apply to a certificate or degree. Medical Office concentration. This curriculum provides a course of study for individuals preparing for positions in a medical office. Courses allow for specialized training in medical terminology, coding, and computer applications. Students can choose a focus in either medical coding or health services administration. Program goals. Upon completion of the Administrative Professional Technology program, the graduate will have developed the skills, knowledge and abilities to accomplish the following:
- Demonstrate knowledge of computer application programs.
- Use terminology and reference materials specific to the field.
- Work independently or function within a work team to complete projects.
- Apply knowledge of emerging technology trends.
- Apply proofreading skills involving grammar, punctuation and language arts.
- Use the internet for research and communication.
