Program description. General Technology offers a core curriculum that encompasses Business, Industrial Technology and Interdisciplinary concentrations.
The General Technology program is designed to allow the student maximum flexibility in designing an educational program that meets specific career-related objectives.
Designed as a cross-disciplinary program, General Technology allows the student to combine engineering technology or business technology or computer technology programs to meet individualized career goals. The student will meet with an assigned advisor to develop an individualized sequence of courses.
Certificate of credit articulation. Certificates of credit completed at Pellissippi State may apply as credit toward the A.A.S. degree in General Technology.
Typical job opportunities: Job opportunities, position titles and competencies gained will vary depending on the student’s choice of major technology courses and guided electives but might include sales associate/sales representative (Business electives), clerk/receptionist (Administrative Professional Technology electives), engineering technician (Engineering Technology electives), project management assistant or technical sales. Students, in conjunction with their assigned advisor, will choose major technology and guided electives from major courses in the Career Programs .
Program goals. The General Technology program provides graduates with a strong foundation in general education, including problem-solving skills and computer use while giving the student the opportunity to select those courses most closely aligned to his/her personal career goals.
