General Associate of Arts (A.A.)

A complete listing of the courses fulfilling general education requirements for all system institutions is available on the TBR website (www.tbr.edu) under Transfer and Articulation Information.

Specific majors are not listed for the general Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees because baccalaureate degree program requirements vary at four-year institutions. General associate’s degree requirements provide a range of course options that permit students to design a program of study that closely matches the first two years of most baccalaureate degree programs.

Upon completion of the Associate of Arts transfer program, the graduate will have developed the skills, knowledge and abilities to accomplish the following:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and/or skills acquired within the general education core.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and/or skills acquired from transfer electives.
  • Identify the academic standards involved in college courses.
  • Connect with peers, faculty, and other resources in the college community.
  • Apply study practices and habits of mind that contribute to academic success in higher education.
  • Exhibit understanding of content spoken, written, or signed in the target language with an awareness of context, audience, purpose, and point of view.
  • Produce meaningful communication, oral, written or signed in the target language, taking into account the context, purpose, and audience.
  • Compare and contrast salient aspects of target language culture and the learner’s first language culture.
