Return to: Certificate Programs
The Medical Scribe curriculum prepares an individual to work alongside a physician or healthcare professional in a medical office, hospital setting, nursing home, or team health private practice for the purpose of assisting with the documentation aspect of patient care. Medical scribes typically document the verbal communication between the patient and health care professional and provide real-time transcription of physician notes within the electronic health record. Upon completion of the certificate, students will be able to input and extract information from the patient record, schedule patient care and manage electronic health records. These are some of the critical work functions that will be addressed in the certificate.
Credits earned may be applied toward the Administrative Professional Technology/Medical Office Concentration, A.A.S. degree.
Courses in each level (Foundation and Core) must be completed prior to advancing to the next level. Where more than one course is offered within a level, courses may be taken in any sequence.
