PSYC 2140 - Psychology of Personal & Societal Wellness ♦Credit(s): 3 This course will offer an integrative exploration of personal and societal wellness through the lens of psychology. Through examination of critical topics such as substance abuse, mental health disorders, stress management, self-care, and positive psychology while addressing broader social and cultural issues. The course emphasizes both individual and collective strategies for fostering well-being and resilience. Incorporating insights from guest speakers and community organizations, the course will explore application of therapeutic principles, build cultural competence, and develop a holistic understanding of wellness. Through a capstone project and applied practice, the course will also prepare for a certification for a Mental Health Technician.
Prerequisite(s): PSYC 1030 and PSYC 2120 and PSYC 2130
♦ This is a General Education course transferable within the Tennessee Board of Regents system.
